Las Vegas [April 22, 2022] – Vertiv (NYSE: VRT), a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, today released an application brief for production and post-production broadcast and government environments, identifying typical challenges and the infrastructure that can address them. Vertiv experts will be at NAB Show, April 24-27, discussing IT management and infrastructure with attendees at their booth in the exhibit hall in the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The broadcast industry is not immune to the edge migration happening across the digital ecosystem. The need for computing close to the industry’s end users is intense, as any lag in video or data availability can impact work quality and compromise the viewing experience. 4K complicates that by more than doubling video resolution, which requires network bandwidth and computing capabilities beyond the current norm.
Vertiv helps broadcasters overcome technology challenges that are slowing widespread adoption of high-definition video by providing 4K-friendly infrastructure systems and enabling zero-latency switching, as well as racks, power distribution, uninterruptible power supply UPS systems, and rack and room cooling.
“The proliferation of edge deployments to support broadcast applications introduces challenges around managing these sites and the high-definition video they transmit, ensuring their availability, and keeping data secure as the number of network access points increases,” said Donnie Sturgeon, vice president of engineering and portfolio for IT systems at Vertiv. “IT and infrastructure management systems are critical to operate and maintain these networks reliably and efficiently. Vertiv’s portfolio offers advanced, high-definition video capabilities in a creative form factor that meets the needs of the broadcast edge.”
Studio facilities and control rooms – already suffering from a lack of space for the equipment needed in modern broadcast environments – often have little room to add advanced infrastructure and networking systems. Space is at a premium, and the ability to conserve space is valued. Vertiv uses creative designs and configurations to pack industry-leading technologies and capabilities into these small spaces.
An example of this creativity is the Vertiv™ Avocent® ADX IPUHD 4K IP KVM, part of the Vertiv™ Avocent® ADX Ecosystem which is the backbone of the Vertiv edge connectivity portfolio.
Government applications requiring secure KVM switching, including airports, offices and military applications, also benefit from low or zero latency. Video is often referenced in these applications, similar to the requirements of broadcast users. Vertiv offers a variety of solutions that meet these needs, including Vertiv™ Cybex™ Secure Multiviewer.
Vertiv™ KVM, UPS, cooling and rack solutions are on display this week at the Vertiv booth (Booth No. #N3417) at NAB Show, along with the rest of the Avocent ADX Ecosystem and the Vertiv broadcast portfolio.
